In the Final Weekend Before Christmas, ShopperTrak Delivers a Mixed Forecast for Holiday Sales
ShopperTrak, the world leader in people counting and foot traffic technology, is also a world leader in producing business intelligence, including highly respected and valued retail sales forecasting and analysis, that is cited by some of the most recognized media outlets around the globe.
When ShopperTrak issues a business statement or projection or opinion, the media and the public takes notice.
ShopperTrak released a sales prognosis two days ago – a prognosis in which, as Reuters reported – ShopperTrak “lowered its forecast for holiday sales, citing discounts and the impact of Hurricane Sandy as it said it now sees a rise of 2.5 percent this season, down from 3.3 percent previously.”

Yet ShopperTrak is also sticking to its expectations released at the beginning of the holiday season that retail foot traffic for the busiest holiday shopping period – which is in the months of November and December – will be up 2.8 percent over that of the same period last year.
In developing its forecasts, ShopperTrak give strong emphasis to the data it receives – and then studies – from its managed people counting technology and foot traffic analysis devices. More than 50,000 ShopperTrak people counting and foot traffic devices are in operation across 74 countries.
